  Currently involved in projects focusing on maternal and child health, health facility audit; analysis of non-communicable diseases prevention policies in South Africa, GP contracting at the district level, and establishing a baseline for future impact assessment of informal settlement upgrading in South Africa, and Supporting Policy Engagement for Evidence-based Decisions (SPEED) for Universal Health Coverage in Uganda.   Responsible for providing intellectual leadership and management of the Health Systems Research Unit (an intra-mural Unit of the SAMRC). The Unit conducts health systems research to develop and improve the organization, efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of health care systems that serve the majority of people in South Africa and Africa. Managed over 10 research and health systems strengthening projects in the areas of PMTCT, VCT, lay workers, HIV prevention, TB, health information, costing and health financing, expenditure reviews, an integrated to MNCH at PHC, and others.

• Policy Analysis Unit

  Responsible for the management of the Unit’s Programmes, financial resources, and Staff. The Unit’s activities coalesced around three program themes: Social Policy and Poverty, Social Innovation and Education, and Social Protection and Health. In addition to conducting policy-relevant research, I provided intellectual or conceptual leadership to other unit activities including policy dialogues, high profile seminars, secondary data analysis, and policy dialogue conferences.
